Secure Access

Electronic locks - Padlock and IBolt

Ahome4it is extending its product range with the addition of a remotely controlled keyless electronic padlock and an intelligent door bolt. These products use no physical key, neither mechanical nor electronic, but instead rely on the user inputting a time limited numerical code. Potential application include:

  • Logistics: freight and transport security
  • Utilities: controlled entry to remote locations
  • Security of fixed and mobile plant and equipment

The padlock is simply a combination version - BUT one where the valid access codes are temporary and automatically expire.

The only way to get the code is from a remotely located software application. The code can be given out by an operator or automatically distributed using SMS.

The main advantages of this product are:

  • An access code that automatically changes - no need to send out staff to change a code; no need to inform potential users of a new code until they need it
  • Padlock with no management overhead for physical mechanical or electronic keys
  • Codes are not known until they are needed, providing improved security
  • Traceable code generation, with activity reporting
  • Web based application - customers can be provided with management of their own estate of locks

This product is currently under development. If you have an application that needs this product or are interested in distributing the product please contact us.

The IBolt (Intelligent Bolt)

The Ibolt uses the same principles as the padlock, but is permanently fixed to a door or cover. It provides a unique way to secure remote facilities.

More access control solutions

As part of an access control system, Ahome4it's electronics and software package provides a unique way of managing access codes and distributing them to approved members of staff within a controlled and traceable process. The output from the code management electronics can be used to drive a suitable electric strike or lock.

  • No need to manage physical keys (mechanical or electronic)
  • Access code automatically changes
  • Valid access code is not known until access is required thereby improving security
  • Traceable code generation
  • Web based application enables business customers to have management and control of their own estate of systems
  • Web application can provide activity reports for each system, operator or user.

The electronics can be housed with the keypad and linked directly to the locking system so that no key is needed.

Consider just some of the scenarios where this could be of value:

1. Remote storage facility or vacant property - access required by maintenance person:

An SMS message is sent from the maintenance person to Ahome4it stating his location as shown in the diagram below. Ahome4it automatically verifies this person has access rights and sends a return SMS containing a temporary code for the access control keypad. Entry to the location is made. A record of the event is kept by Ahome4it. A short while later and this same code is invalid. If this person leaves the company, he is simply removed from the list of authorised users.

The access control system can be easily installed and needs no sophisticated communications to ensure security.

2. Warden controlled housing with vulnerable elderly residents:

For each property, a database of authorised users is maintained (relatives, healthcare workers etc). When access is required, the user contacts Ahome4it for a code. The code is keyed-in and the visitor can gain access without the occupier being disturbed. The occupiers can each have their own unique code, which is always valid. Please refer to www.key4care.com for further details.

3. The yacht club with millions of dollars worth of floating assets:

Instead of running an insecure system where everybody has the same code that never changes, or the cost of running a system where every user has their own swipe cards (which get lost and corrupted), why not consider a system where the cost of access control hardware is minimal and where Ahome4it manage a database of members? As usual, a code would only be released when an authorised member requests it and would have to be used there and then.

If you're involved in supplying locking hardware and would like to add this level of access control, please contact us and we would be happy to discuss it with you.
